Joseph W. Perry Sr Born: June 4, 1927 Passed: May 7, 2020

Written by Tim Perry

Have known day would come. My Dad passed this afternoon. Joseph W. Perry Sr. He had tested positive for the virus the other day. He went in the company of some of my immediate family, and was not alone.

My friends know I seldom post personal thoughts on here, but I have to tell you about my Dad.

He was 93 years old. 93, Good Lord. He had a sister, Marie, who he loved dearly and she loved him. He had out lived two wives, my Mom Barbara and my step-mom Delores. (My Mom and Dolores were best friends that made for some playful rumors after he married Delores). He had two sons, and a daughter (Joe and Barbara). Also, had three step-children, David, Missy and Frank Piver, who were like blood relatives to him and me. He a few step grand-kids he adored to. And, he had nieces and nephews he was proud of as well.

To Judith’s extended family and friends:

It is with a heavy heart; we share the news of former Social Work Services Executive Judith Galimore Talbert’s passing (February 25, 1946 – May 9, 2020).  Judith passed after suffering multiple heart attacks on the same day, due to complications of her diabetes.

Judith was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, aunt and cousin, but most of all, a social worker with a heart and compassion to all in her path.  If you knew Judith, you knew someone who was a fantastic person with an infectious laugh, a mild manner personality, but a fire in her heart to do right by others.

Judith, a proud Spelman girl – as she kindly would remind you – was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Arnold and Ruby (Oliver) Galimore. Judith graduated from Shortridge High School, Indianapolis.  From there, she went on to Spelman College, Atlanta, GA, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts, Microbiology, Class of 1967.  She attended Graduate School at the University of Michigan, where she acquired her Masters of Social Work, Class of 1972.

She was also an integral part of growing the family owned business as a seamstress. On her time off, Camila enjoyed traveling, cooking for her family, watching soccer and shopping.

He resided for part of his childhood at St John’s Orphanage in West Philadelphia where the Catholic nuns educated him. Leaving St John’s at the end of the seventh grade, his formal education stopped temporarily.

A stint in the Naval Reserves bought a GE diploma, and deployment on the submarine Diablo rounded out his love of all things mechanical. The experience would suit him well for a long career as Chief Engineer at many industrial laundry plants in the Philadelphia area.
