ROGER A. DUGAN (ROD) 100 yrs young – recently of Lady Lake FL – passed away Thursday March 26, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. This was just 3 weeks after suffering his only heart attack. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.

Born November 19, 1919 in Philadelphia PA. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel F Dugan and Elizabeth A (nee Rossiter), three brothers Daniel, Bernard and John and 2 sisters Madeline and Martha.

As a young adult, because of his love for roller skating, he was often found at the local rink which at that time was Chez Vous near 69th St.

Being classified as 4F for military service, due to a severe sinus condition, he was sent to Arizona and spent approximately 10 years in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area where his only child Ruth Ann Dugan Barlow was born.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and later golfer (even had a “whole in one”).

While Roger spent most of his life in the NE Philadelphia area, the last 20 years were spent in Florida near his daughter. He loved playing golf on the course where he lived and even introduced his daughter to his favorite golfing partner Ken Smock. Ken and Ruth have been together ever since.

Besides his daughter he is survived by 3 grandsons, James Roger, David Paul (wife Angela) and Wm Douglas (wife JoAnn) DeRosa and 4 great grandchildren, Laura, Austin, Travis and Dominic (all of whom will always remember and be grateful for “Pop Pop’s secret handshake”). Also left behind is his first great great granddaughter Lennon Mae and many nieces and nephews and their families

He was a 77 year member of UA Pipefitters Local 420 in Philadelphia and was exceptionally proud of that fact. He was laid to rest in his 420 jacket with his 420 hat. He even once or twice bought a golf club because it had a 420 on it.

Anyone who new him will remember that he was always there when anyone needed him.

He was dearly loved and will be missed by all but especially by his daughter.

Interment Resurrection Cemetery with his parents.  A Memorial Gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
