Meta D’Adderio, 97, a longtime resident of Mayfair, was born in Bochum, Germany. At age 5, she immigrated to Philadelphia with her parents, Meta and August Palow, and sister Hildegard.  A proud alumna of Girls High School and Moore College of Art, Meta was an illustrator and enjoyed working as a sales associate at John Wanamaker for many years. She was married to (late) Michael D’Adderio, Sr. and is survived by her son, Michael D’Adderio, Jr. of NE Phila. Her daughter Susan D’Adderio died tragically in 1993. Meta was a gifted artist and calligrapher, a lover of animals, an arts and crafts enthusiast, and a former cub scouts den mother. She was proud of her German heritage and continued German language studies into adulthood.  Meta died peacefully at Paul’s Run Retirement Community where she was lovingly cared for and where her mother spent her final days, years before.  She will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and her gentle spirit, as well as the many crafts and gifts she bestowed on all who entered her home. Services will be held privately for Meta D’Adderio.
