James D. Haverstick, 61, passed away in his home on October 13, 2022. Growing up in the Mayfair neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA, Jim was known by most as “Stick.” He graduated from Father Judge High School in 1979 and Penn State University in 1983. After graduating, Jim began working for the Federal Government in the Department of Defense and later worked at Rastelli’s, impacting all he came across with his big heart. A lifelong avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers as well as Penn State football, Jim enjoyed watching games with friends and family, especially his sons. When he wasn’t supporting his teams, Jim could be found working on his cars and making sure they were in immaculate condition. Everyone knew Jim as someone they could laugh with and someone who showed up when times were tough. He will be greatly missed.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, the late H. Richard and Amelia (Schwarz) Haverstick and his brother, Michael S. He was the devoted father to James M. and Michael R. Haverstick. He leaves behind his siblings Marilyn (Tom) Batz, Joan (George) Gainer, H. Richard Jr., Stephen (Connie), and David (Kathy) as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his ex-wife Annette Langello.
Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to St. Matthew R.C. Church, Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, with visitation at 9:15 AM and funeral mass at 10:30AM. Interment will be private.
