Silvestro (Silva, Sal) Palestina of Northeast Philadelphia (formerly of S. Clarion Street, Philadelphia) died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 5:15 AM. He was 95 and was a proud Veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He resided in the Rhawnhurst section of N.E. Philadelphia. He was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord parish for the past 35 years.

Silva was always ready, willing and able to help anyone. At the age of 84, he started to take painting classes. He was always on the go. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Benedetta (Betty) nee Ciamberlano.

Silvestro is survived by his children, Peter Palestina and his wife, Joan, of Richboro, Frances Maine and her husband, Douglas, of Bedford Corners, NY and his brother Gaetano (Pete, Junior) Palestino of Philadelphia. He was the loving grandfather of Melissa Hower (Matt), Peter Palestina, Jr. (Jillian), Alison and Steven Maine. He was a devoted great-grandfather of Matthew, Sean and Carmella. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph, and sisters Angie, Mary and Lena.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing Tuesday, January 12, 2021 10:15-10:45 AM. at Resurrection of Our Lord Church, Castor and Shelmire Aves., Philadelphia PA 19152, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M.. Rite of Committal Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory can be made to Resurrection of Our Lord Sanctuary Endowment Fund at the above address.
