Olli A. Tervo, 39, went to be with the Lord suddenly from natural causes on Friday April 9, 2021.

Olli was born in Finland and moved with his family to the US when he was 2 years old. Olli was a dual citizen of both the United States and Finland. He was very proud of his Finnish heritage, and people around him soon knew where his roots were.  Olli was exceptionally close to his friends, who loved him deeply and found him to be loyal and very generous.

Olli loved to travel worldwide and explore new places both geographically and culturally.  His personality allowed him to make new friends immediately no matter where he was.

There was no denying Olli’s true love for both music and sports. Like father like son, Olli enjoyed tennis in his younger years while also playing little league baseball and soccer. Olli was an avid sports fan just like his father. Major sports which he followed extremely closely were soccer (favorite team Liverpool), baseball (favorite team Atlanta Braves), Formula One (favorite driver Kimi Raikkonen) and ice hockey (favorite team Finland).

Olli was a man of many talents including cooking, as he was always excited to try new things, and he took pride in his creations which made him an excellent chef who loved to serve others.

Olli had a very successful career in advertising and had many great stories to tell from his work experiences in Helsinki, San Francisco, Atlanta, Miami, Philadelphia, New York and Washington DC. He was always looking to share and make new connections around the world. He made many lifelong friends and had colleagues who remember his talents, unique way of thinking, perspective, genuine nature, humor and as someone who always had their back. His last place of work for almost 11 years was with Wunderman Thompson Washington, DC as Associate Art Director.

Olli was the beloved son of Liisa (nee Haapa-aho) and Olavi Tervo; loving brother to Heidi Rivera (Julio) and Tiina Thames (David). Uncle to Anna, Alex, Andrew, and Ava Rivera; Walker, Mia, Elena, and Susanna Thames. He was a caring partner and friend to his girlfriend Tracey Macklin and leaves behind many extended family members and friends, who will all miss him dearly.

A Life Celebration gathering will be held privately by Olli’s family at his parent’s home.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested that potential donations be made in Olli’s name either a) to World Vision in helping to feed hungry children in different parts of the world by clicking the link:, or b) Patmos Mission in helping the children in the slums in Brazil/Fortaleza (Slummikeskus Taivas).
