Margalie Estriplet Therlonges, daughter of the late father Emilio Estriplet and mother Lourdes Ada Estriplet, was born on March 6, 1959 in the southeastern town of Belle-Anse, Haiti.

Maggie attended elementary school in Belle-Anse, then she moved to the capital city Port-au-Prince, where she attended an all-girl primary school: Les soeurs de la sagesse in Petion-Ville and College Vaval in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Later on in November of the year 1977, Maggie traveled to the United States.
