Beloved husband of Constance (nee Bedrinski) of 59 years. Devoted father to James Kresz (Debra), Jacqueline Kresz Green (Brian) and John Kresz (Julie). Loving Pop-Pop to Tristan Kresz and Alexandra Kresz. He is survived by his brother Robert, sister-in-law Theresa and nephew Robert (Debbie Snitzky).
Matthew grew up in Port Richmond, graduated St. Adalbert's School, is a proud graduate of Northeast Catholic High School; Class of 1955 and La Salle College; Class of 1962.
Matthew is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was a member of The Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He was a chemist and long-time employee of C&D Battery.
During his retirement he enjoyed trips to The Villages in Florida; taking Cruises with his wife and friends from the Senior Group of St. Jerome's Parish; visiting his grandchildren in Georgia and his brother in Houston. His hobbies included golfing and gardening. He had an appreciation of a well-made SC Manhattan.
Matthew and his wife instilled a traditional Polish heritage in their family. He had a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the Rosary daily. Matthew was welcomed home with the Lord content in knowing that he was a faithful servant in family, church and community.
Matthew's funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. preceded by a viewing starting at 9:15 a.m. at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 3000 Cottman Ave, Phila., PA. His burial will be at a later date at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
