Joseph Ward

Joseph Ward, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 21, 2020. He was a remarkable son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he will be missed by all who knew him. This is especially true of his wife of 46 years, Rosann, his mother-in-law, Rose, his daughter, Robin, his son, Sean, his granddaughter, Kylie, his son-in-law, Jason, his sister, Patricia, a few dozen nieces and nephews, a couple hundred cousins, and his grand-doggies, Salem and Russell. We were extremely lucky to have a man like Joe in our lives as he gave us so much joy, humor, passion and good food. He will be remembered as a warm, intelligent, fiery, all-around cool guy.

Joe loved his family immensely. There was nothing that brought him more joy than grilling up dinner for his family on a Sunday afternoon. To make it even better, he would prepare vegetables from his garden he was so proud of, and serve dinner in the backyard he worked so hard on for his family to enjoy.

Joe also had a great love for music. His passion for music impacted many people. His family fondly remembers listening to “Breakfast With The Beatles” on Sunday mornings as well as records all day. His love of woodworking and crafting has impacted all of our lives – it is a truly special thing that his entire family can look around their homes and see several pieces of his work including birdhouses, holiday decorations, and toy boxes. He was so generous with his talent.

Joe was a seeker of knowledge. He loved learning about his ancestry and was proud of his Irish heritage. He was invested in politics and often shared his views on social media. He absolutely loved Philly sports (LET’S GO FLYERS!). There is so much more, but the point is he took all of his strengths and interests and used them to enrich his family’s life. He will be missed, but his legacy will carry on in all the traditions his family has embraced and the many ways he has shaped who we are.

Joe was so proud of his granddaughter and was very excited to see her vote this November for the first time, so in lieu of flowers please consider donating to rockthevote.org, an organization dedicated to increasing the political power of young people.

The family will be having a private memorial on Sunday, August 30, 2020 with an invitation to virtually participate following shortly. Please visit www.mykeeper.com/profile/JoeWard/ for more information, to leave stories and photos, and to get more information on the virtual service.
