John Charles Cresci, Jr, of Old City 84, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
John was a life-long Philadelphia resident. He was the son John Charles, Sr and Carmila (Melfe) Cresci.
John graduated from Father Judge High School. He began his professional career with the United States Army in 1963, and eventually retired from the military in 1991, as a reservist. During his 60 plus years in working status, John was a proud Law Enforcement Officer, Detective, and Investigator. Most of his working years were with the Philadelphia Police Department (23 years - Patrolman and Detective), Philadelphia Housing Authority (16 years - Deputy Chief and Chief of Police) and United States Department of Agriculture (17 years - Senior Investigator). He valued his work in law enforcement so much that he never retired, maintaining his employment until the day he passed. Other than work, John enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, dining out at fine restaurants, spoiling those who were near and dear to him, and traveling, especially to the shore, the Poconos and Florida.
Friends and family are welcome to join us for a viewing to be held at John F. Fluehr & Sons Funeral Home, 3301-15 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19149 on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 9-11am. Prayer service to begin at 11am.
