Amelia M. Horgan, of Philadelphia, passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 96. Amelia, the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Horgan, was born on December 8,1927, to the late John Ciocci and Jennie Romanelli.Amelia was a beacon of kindness and respect, cherished by her family and all who knew her. Throughout her life, Amelia was an avid reader and expressed her creativity through sewing and painting, often creating personalized gifts for her family and friends. Amelia enjoyed her employment as an insurance adjuster at Colonial Penn, in Philadelphia, for many years. Her warm presence and gracious spirit were truly irreplaceable.
Amelia leaves behind a legacy of love and nurturing as a devoted mother to Christine Perkins, Michael Horgan (Frances), and Vienna Ciocci, and as a grandmother to Lisa DiRisio, Patrick Horgan, Melanie Barth, Christopher Horgan, Jason Davey, John Benko, Matthew Horgan, and Julia Saunders, and great-grandmother to Alexa Horgan, Mikaila, Ava and Xzavier Saunders, Alexandria, Kendall and Samantha Barth, Rea and Daphne Horgan, Autumn Davey, Alyssa, Averie, John Joseph and Ellie Benko, and Nolan and Keaton Annett and her daughter-in-law Darlene Horgan.
She was predeceased by her devoted son, Joseph R. Horgan and her kind-hearted grandson, Michael John Horgan.
Services to honor Amelia's life will be held on Thursday, November 14 at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 8100 Colfax St, Philadelphia, PA. Viewing will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 3301 W. Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia, PA.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charities that were close to Amelia's heart, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and the Alzheimer's Association. Her kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
