Delores passed peacefully on Monday, November 24th.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, and her children, Deborah Darroyo of Philadelphia and Karen (Robert) Thomas of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She is also survived by her grandchildren—John (Jaclyn), Kelsey, Steven (Angela), Joseph, RJ, and Kevin—and her great-grandchildren, Carter and Maeve. Delores will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Delores has been reunited with her beloved daughter, Donna.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mathias and Margaret Houck, her brother, James, and her sister, Anna Jessel.
After graduating from Olney High School, Delores married the love of her life, Robert, and together they began raising their family in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia. They became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church and have been there ever since. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and relatives, especially during holidays and birthdays. Delores lived a long and happy life, filled with travel, trips to Atlantic City, and daily morning breakfasts with Bob at neighborhood diners.
Delores was a cherished friend who touched the lives of countless people.
Relatives and friends are invited to Delores' memorial service 11:00 am Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at St. John's Luthern Church 3101 Tyson Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19149, where her family will receive guests after 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to St. John's Luthern Chrch 3101 Tyson Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19149.
