Joseph P. Slowey Sr.

Joseph P. Slowey Sr., 100, longtime resident of Mayfair, passed away on Saturday January 8, 2022.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Mary Slowey (nee Fisher), of 67 years. Beloved father of Frances Gerry (John), Joseph Jr. (Eileen), Teresa Slowey; grandfather of Christopher Gerry (Allie); Patricia Slowey, Susan Gallagher (Kevin), Mary Teresa Slowey, and Jolene Slowey. Great grandfather of Marissa, Evan, Brianna, Brett, Lily, Kevin Jr., Steven, and Penelope.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday January 12, 2021 at St. Matthew Church 3000 Cottman Ave, Phila, PA 19149 from 9:15-10:15am. A funeral mass to follow at 10:30am; interment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Matthew Sanctuary Fund at the above address.

Andrea L. Lucas

Andrea L. Lucas, age 47, of Philadelphia, PA. passed away Saturday, January 8th, at her residence.

She was the loving wife of William H. Lucas. Devoted mother of Anna Westover (Chad), Evan, Colin, Avery, Abigail, Laura, Elsa and Brielle. Devoted daughter of June (Feaser) Winterborne and the late Richard Winterborne. Sister of the late Neil Winterborne, Vincent Winterborne (Bonnie), Derek Winterborne (Brenda), Rodney Winterborne (Mellisa) and Bryce Winterborne (Eve). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Andrea's viewing Friday January 14th, 2022 from 9-12. Services for Andrea will begin at 12. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Abginton, PA.

David B. Foster, Jr.

David B. Foster, Jr., 58, longtime resident of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

David was the beloved father of William Sibley, Crystal Carpenter, Rachael Greening (Michael), Lisa Coursey (Aaron), Jacob Foster (Alana), Tom Foster (Atalie), (late) Joshua Foster, Peter Foster (Becca), and Caleb Foster. Loving grandfather of Andrew, Maria, Shane, Matthew, Sommer, Xavier, Geo, Jennifer, Zachary, Christopher, Benjamin, Alexis, Matthew, Carter, Dawson, Ezri, and Naomi. David was a caring brother to Alice Bickings (Kenneth), Bonnie Winterborne (Vincent), (late) John Foster, Joseph Foster, Mary Foster, Eileen Kilbride (Paul), James Foster(Denise), Emily Milnes (Scott), and Andrew Foster(Sharon).

Mary R. Lynd, 96, passed away on Wednesday January 5, 2022

Mary was the beloved daughter of the late James and Margaret Lynd. Devoted sister of Catherine, (late) Margaret Lynd and the (late) James F. Lynd Jr.

Olga D. Tartaglia age 94 on December 31, 2021.

Dear wife of the late Ernest, Sr. Loving mother of Susan Leslie (Stephen, Sr.) and Ernest Tartaglia, Jr. (Tamara). Beloved Grandmother of Stephen Leslie, Jr. (Maru), Adam and Paul Tartaglia. Also survived by her two nieces, Suzanne McElvenney and Barbara Macatee.

Dominic S. Samarco Jr., 79, passed away with his family by his side on Friday December 24, 2021.

Dominic was the beloved husband of Deania Samarco (nee Durrwachter) for 61 years. Loving father of Deania, Dominic III (Debbie), Carmela Baker (David), Ricky (Denise Gilbert), Tony (Kim), and Tracy Samarco. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 siblings and many extended family members and friends.

Fee 53 year employee of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Formerly of Our Mother of Sorrows and Saint Martin of Tours parishes Sister of the late Catharine Fee, SSJ and Mary M. Fee, SSJ Survived by her sister, Fran Hayburn (Jim); 2 nieces (Theresa Hayburn, SSJ), 4 nephews, 4 grandnieces and 7 grandnephews. Rita was the recipient of the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal in 1985 from Pope John Paul II

Tare Shehu, 41, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021.

Tare Shehu was born in Tepelena, Albania and is survived by his parents Liri (nee Spahiu) and Hysne Shehu; father of Sebastian and Albion Shehu; brother to Aldo Shehu. He is survived by many extended family members and friends, who will all miss him dearly.

James W. Dwyer

James W. Dwyer, 72, longtime resident of Mayfair, passed away on Wednesday December 15, 2021.

James was the beloved husband of Ruth Dwyer (nee Roth) for 39 years of marriage; loving father of Kent T. Dwyer and Brad P. Dwyer (Doris Okletey). He is also survived by his brother Gary Dwyer, neighbors, and friends who will all miss him dearly.

James will always be remembered for his ability to have deep and meaningful conversations with friends and family, his love for all sports, his early artistic and creative ideas and depictions, his passions around history and movies, and his everlasting relationships that he built with loved ones.

Marie I. Johnston

Marie I. Johnston (nee Harrison), 99, longtime resident of Mayfair, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Marie was the beloved wife of (late) Thomas J. Johnston Sr; devoted mother of Marie Sweeney (Joseph), Kathleen Weber (Edward), Thomas J. Jr (Kathleen), William J. (Kathleen), and Gregory Johnston (Jeanne). She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will begin at 10am; interment to take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
