Mitchell K. Ignarski

 Mitchell K. Ignarski, 58, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021.

Mitch K. Ignarski was the beloved son of Mitchell C. and Elaine B. and was a loving Brother to Matthew J. (Jenny), Karen White (Christopher), and Uncle to Gabrielle, Jonathan, and Kiersten.  He is also survived by many, close friends .

Mitch was a graduate of: Father Judge HS, Class of 1980, 3301 Solly Ave., Philadelphia, PA., and La Salle University, Class of 1984, 1900 West Olney Ave. Philadelphia, PA.  He utilized the knowledge from a BS degree in Business Management to go into business for himself over 37 years.

Mitch loved to play sports, especially Baseball and Basketball. Growing up in Little League, with the Holy Terrors, Mitch was often voted MVP of his baseball team.  In later years, he continued to play regularly with friends in Basketball and Softball.

Michael John Horgan

Michael John Horgan, 46, longtime resident of Mayfair, passed away suddenly on Wednesday September 15, 2021.

Beloved son of Frances (nee Moshinski) and Michael J. Horgan; loving brother of Patrick and Matthew Horgan; loving partner of Cheyenne Brown and caring Pop-Pop of Azeria. He is also survived by his grandmothers Amelia Horgan and Bernice Moshinski; his beloved nieces Alexa Horgan and Victoria May; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will all miss him dearly.

Philomena Kahana

Kahana, Philomena (nee Amendola)Age 89, passed away on September 15th with her family by her side.

Devoted wife of the late Stanley E. Kahana. Loving mother of Rosemarie Garczynski (Mark), Thomas Kahana (Dawn), Michele Westfield (John), Stanley Kahana (Louise), David Kahana (Lisa), and the late Helene Kahana. Also predeceased by her brother Lawrence Amendola “Birdman”. Dear grandmother of 9 and great-grandmother of 16.

Ingrid L. Johnson

Ingrid L. Johnson (nee Grosser), 60, passed away peacefully with her husband and friends by her side on Tuesday September 14, 2021.

Ingrid L. Johnson was a longtime resident of Mayfair and spent her younger years working for Strawbridge and Clothier where she had many fond memories. She enjoyed sending any type of greeting card to her friends for any occasion, and never forgot a birthday or an anniversary.

Ingrid was the beloved wife of James Johnson for 40 years. She will be missed by many extended family members, friends, and neighbors.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday September 18, 2021 at John F. Fluehr & Sons 3301 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19149 from 10-11:30am, with a service by her family to follow.

Elaine B. Ignarski

Elaine B. Ignarski (nee Betz), 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021

Elaine B. Ignarski was the beloved wife of Mitchell C. Ignarski for 59 years.  Loving mother to Mitchell K., Matthew J. (Jenny), Karen White (Christopher).  Devoted Grandmother: Gabrielle, Jonathan and Kiersten.  Elaine is also survived by her eldest, loving sister, Doris, and many nieces and nephews. 

Elaine was a graduate of Little Flower High School, Class of 1956 (1000 W Lycoming St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19140)

Knowing the value of an education, she instilled the desire of a college education in all of her children.  Through her persistent guidance and financial support, all of them became college graduates.  She also began attending university level classes when her children began their own Collegiate Careers.

Retiring from the City of Philadelphia in 1999 after 21 years of service.  Elaine worked as an Administrative Assistant in the City Department of Recreation (Veterans Stadium).  Prior to working in the stadium, she worked in the Department of Internal Affairs.

Pauline M. Cheeseman

Pauline M Cheeseman (nee Miller) on Thursday September 9, 2021 at the age 69 passed away peacefully with her children and grandchildren by her bedside.

Beloved wife of the late Marty L Cheeseman. Loving mother of Jennifer Samarco-Weeks (Eddie), Michelle McMaster (Michael), and the late Tommy Samarco. Cherished Mommom of Tiffany, Ursula, Stevie, Joey, Dylan and Rachel. Great Memom of Brian, Yeila, Brayden, Autumn, Arabella, Matthew and Anastasia. Dear sister of Janney, Lonnie, Margie, Mary, Eddie, Joey and the (late) Tony. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Rosemary Link

Rosemary Link (nee Widener), 73, longtime resident of Mayfair, passed away suddenly on Sunday September 5, 2021.

Rosemary was predeceased by her parents Jennie (nee Reiss) and Frank Widener; and sister Nancy McCandeless. She was the beloved aunt of Nancy Schrey (Christopher); and great aunt to Eric, Julie, Ryan, and Nicholas Schrey.

Rosemary was a very bright, caring, and generous woman .She always liked to help those in need .She also was very grounded in her catholic upbringing. Rosemary enjoyed going to mass and going to her weekly prayer meetings ,as the fellowship there brought great joy in her life .She also looked forward to her meetings with the ladies with the red hats club .She will be greatly missed by her family & friends.

Services for Rosemary will be held privately by her family.

Gloria F. Tarr

GLORIA FRANCES TARR (née Appello), age 100, went home peacefully to God on September 3, 2021.

Born August 5, 1921 to Vincent and Mamie Appello (née Ciancaglini) in South Philadelphia, she was the youngest of six children. Gloria was a devout parishioner at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia since 1952, and a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for fifty years. Gloria enjoyed many activities throughout life. Very early she learned the art of sewing from her father, a tailor, to create her own clothes. At age 19 she earned her license to work as an “Operator in a Beauty Shop,” an occupation later known as Cosmetologist. She was employed at a hairdressing salon at Gimbel’s Department Store in Center City Philadelphia until marrying at age 31 to devote herself as a loving wife and mother to three sons.

Dolores I. Rich

Dolores I. Rich (nee Hall), 94, longtime resident of Mayfair, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 5, 2021.

Dolores spent a productive and extensive career as a registered nurse at Friends Hospital.

Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Harvey W. Rich; devoted mother of Stephen Rich (Edna), Christine Rich-Adami (Mark), and Valerie Sabara (Keith). She was a loving grandmother to Stephen Rich (Courtney), Danielle Long (Alex), Kathleen Leone (Mike); and Mary Angel Sabara; great grandmother to Conner, Sienna, Aiden, A.J., Gabriel, Remy, and Sebastian. Dolores was preceded in death by her brother James Hall.

Violeta Zhidro

Violeta Zhidro (nee Prifti), 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 29, 2021.

Violeta was a beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Her loving character and witty personality always brought everyone closer together. We will truly miss her warm home cooked meals and infectious smile. She will be missed tremendously by all of her loved ones.
