Harold J. O'Such

Harold J. Osuch, 94, lifelong resident of Mayfair, passed away on Monday March 22, 2021.

Harold was a very devoted son, especially to his mother and was always ready to be there to help his sisters. He was a World War II Veteran and was a longtime member of the Steamfitters Local #420. Harold was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending his free time fishing, hunting, boating, camping, skiing, scuba diving, golfing, and was even a small plane pilot. Being a bachelor, he was very generous to his nieces and nephews, often taking them on special trips across the United States.

Joan T. Bergiven

Joan T. Bergiven. (nee Gallagher) of Mayfair on March 24, 2020 at the age of 84.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Bergiven. Devoted mother of Michael J. (Carole), Paul G. (Lee), Joseph F., William J. and Robert V. Bergiven. Loving Nana of Kelli, Kaitlyn, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, Julia, Jessica, Isabelle, Christopher, Aidan and Nicholas. Dear sister of William Gallagher (Mary) and Barbara Frisco.

Hugh C. McDermott

Hugh C. McDermott, 91, long time resident of Mayfair, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021 with his family by his side.

Hugh was born in Inisclan, Mountfield, Omagh in County Tyrone, Ireland at the beginning of the Great Depression. He was the eldest of twelve children. His parents Hugh McDermott and Bridget Daly were farmers and raised livestock. Hugh loved working the fields and taking care of the animals and his favorite daily task was going up into the mountains with his father to herd the sheep. Sadly, Hugh lost his father at the age of thirteen forcing him to end his formal schooling and propelling him into the role of the family patriarch, a role which he would hold for the next eight decades.

Marion G. Diel

Marion L. Diel (nee Gaffney), 76, longtime resident of Mayfair passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Marion Diel was a proud member of the 1958 graduating class of Corpus Christi and Hallahan’s class of 1962. Marion loved spending time with her family, and especially quality time with her husband Ray. Anyone that knew Marion, would say her presence could light up the room. She was an animal lover and always kept her faith in the fore front of her life, believing God was always by her side.

Marion was the loving wife of Ray Diel for 41 years. She was a devoted sister to her 3 brothers Harry (Karen), James (Linda), and Dan Gaffney (Marge); Beloved aunt of Maura and Harry Gaffney (Mellana); Lauren and Timothy Gaffney. A Special Aunt and Mimi to Danny-Bubba, Megan Shenenberger (Sam), and Kate Gaffney; and many extended family members.

Paul A. Tremmel, Sr.

On Sunday March 14, 2021, Paul A. Tremmel Sr. passed away at his son, and daughter in-law’s home with his loved ones beside him. Paul was a caring father to his children Paul Tremmel, Jr., his daughter in law Nicole Tremmel (Croce), Michael Tremmel, Suzie Tremmel (Wheedleton), his son in law Bill Wheedleton, and Samantha Tremmel. He was a proud grandfather to Jaccob and Tyler Tremmel. Paul is also survived by his brother Joseph Tremmel and his wife Mary Grace Tremmel (Sawicki). He was predeceased by his father Joseph G. Tremmel, his mother Gertrude T. Tremmel, and his sister Gertrude Tremmel (Clemons).

Paul was in the carpenters union and always participated in the meetings, he was a lover of gardening, he served in the Navy, he was a pilot, he was an avid lottery player and enjoyed the casino, he enjoyed fishing, and was known for spontaneous trips. He enjoyed a good debate, and spending time with his beloved dog Abby. He will be deeply missed by everyone around him.

Estelle "Cookie" Hoch

Estelle “Cookie” Hoch, 82, longtime resident of Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday March 11, 2021. Cookie was the life of the party, her smile and laugh were contagious. There was nothing she loved more than dancing, music, and spending time with her friends and family. She lived life her way, full and fiercely without any regrets.

Cookie was the devoted wife of (late) John Hoch for 64 years. She was a loving mother to her 5 children Randi Howard (Tim), Richard Hoch (Joan), John Hoch (Heather), Jill Brown (Joe Wall), and Michael Hoch (Jennifer).

AnnaMarie T. Flynn

AnnaMarie T. Flynn (nee Ryan), 89, originally from South West Philadelphia, Pa went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2021. In her teenage years AnnaMarie moved with her family to Darby where she lived until her marriage in her mid-thirties. With her husband, Joe, AnnaMarie moved back to Philadelphia where she raised her family of 5 girls, welcoming seven grand-children and one great grandchild into the world. She was an avid book reader with a passion for suspense thrillers. AnnaMarie looked forward to birthdays, holidays and every Sunday dinner when she could be with her whole family. She was skilled in the art of needlework and enjoyed making blankets, sweaters, and hats for all the new babies of the family. AnnaMarie taught by example showing her children how to love unconditionally, how to sacrifice for others, how to practice selflessness, to be loyal, and most importantly to spend time with the ones you love.

Douglas A. Troutman

Douglas A. Troutman, 58, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021.

Doug was a faithful husband to his wife Lorraine Troutman (nee Foster) and a loving father to Bonnie Carpenter. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph, Sr. and Elizabeth Troutman. Doug was a devoted brother to his siblings Ralph Troutman, Jr., (late) Wayne Troutman (Dawn), Wesley Troutman (Cindy), Kathleen Eaton (Bill, Sr.), Larry Troutman, Beverly Westover (Terry), and Beth Yeager (Warren, Jr.). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing for Douglas Troutman on Friday, March 5, 2021 at John F. Fluehr & Sons Funeral Home 3301 Cottman Ave., Phila, Pa 19149 from 10-12pm. A graveside service will follow at North Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5800 Frankford Ave. Phila, PA 19124 at 12:30pm.

Claire V. Rollinson

Claire V. Rollinson (nee Peberdy), 59, passed away suddenly on Tuesday February 23, 2021.

Claire was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia. She worked for Philadelphia Park and recreation for 20 years. She loved doing her ceramics and everything she made in ceramics was specially picked for someone she knew. She loved taking care of kids and just making sure they were okay. Whether looking out for the neighborhood kids or taking care of the after-school kids, day camp. Claire loved watching her kids and being there at every single event they had! Her kids were her everything and they were her life. Claire loved being by the pool in the summer and being in the sun. Now she has moved past the sun and can rest ever so peaceful with her loved ones on the other side.

Catherine Gaffney

Catherine Gaffney (nee Sachs), 100, born on January 28, 1921, longtime resident of Mayfair, and North Haven, Connecticut passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband William Gaffney. She was a loving mother to her 3 daughters Maureen Johnstone (Late Bill), Kathleen Cahill (Tom), Elaine Schaeffer (Ed); Mom-mom to Bill Johnstone (Jen), Mike Johnstone (Sara), Kelli Johnstone; Jen Rutkowski (Don); Ed and Tim Schaeffer (Paula). Catherine was a proud great mom-mom to Julianne, Jaclyn, Emma, Luke, Ben, Will, Sophia, and Donnie. Sister to the Late John Sachs (Late Phyllis) and Patricia McCloskey (Late Emmet).

Services for Catherine Gaffney will be held privately by her family.
