Bernard A. Scarcia

Bernard A. Scarcia, "Benny" of Northeast Philadelphia passed away suddenly on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Jefferson Frankford Hospital at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Sharon Scarcia (nee Sibilla) and the late Victoria J. Scarcia (nee Sauer). Devoted father of Darlene McGovern (David), Tina Widmann (Dave), Donna Forrester (Gary), Anthony Scarcia (Kelly) and step father of Scott Nagle (Debbie). Loving Pop of Rachel, Lauren, David, Hailey, Gavin, Dalton, Mason, Nathan, Victoria, Lucianna, Ava and Kaylee. Step brother of Vera Matlack, Dominic Ragazzone, Salvatore Ragazzone, Mario Ragazzone, Luigi Ragazzone and the late Pasqualina Muto and the late Vincenzo Ragazzone. Brother in law of Tom Sibilla, John Sauer (Donna), Henry Sauer (Debbie) and the late William Sauer (Claudia); also survived by his nieces and nephews.

As everyone knows, Benny loved many things in life. Food, cars (especially corvettes), Doo-Wop Music, Philadelphia Sports Teams, fishing at the lake, caring for his lawn and garden, but most of all, his family. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Everyone who met him, loved him. Benny was such a sensitive man, that he was often moved to tears while watching commercials. As the commercial ended, he would say "I enjoyed that." And that is how he lived his life, enjoying it to the fullest.

Michael A. Shields

Michael A. Shields, a U. S Navy Veteran formerly of Mayfair on November 9, 2019 at the age of 83.

Beloved brother of Mary Fiocca (the late Thomas). Devoted uncle of Bernadette McCutcheon (James); great uncle of Melanie and Trevor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing and Funeral Wednesday November 20, 2019 9:15 - 10:15 AM at St. Matthew Church (Upper) 3000 Cottman Ave. Philadelphia PA 19149 followed by his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

Edward V. Kelly, Sr.

Edward V. Kelly, Sr. of Philadelphia PA. He served in the U.S. Navy for over 10 years and was a decorated  Korean War Veteran. He passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Philadelphia Protestant Home after a long illness at the age of 89.

Beloved husband of Dorothy R. (nee Moritz) Devoted father of Karen Mangold (Larry), Edward Jr., (Peggy) Timothy (Maryann), Mark (Barbara) and Brian (Lori). Loving Pop Pop of Michael, Danny, Matthew, Shane, Bryn, Timothy Jr., Shawn, Bridget, Matt, Carter, Alyssa, Amanda, Brian Jr. and Patrick. Frederick T. Truitt, Jr. of Northeast Philadelphia passed away on Wednesday October 30, 2019 after a long illness at the age of 43.

Beloved husband of Laura Truitt. Devoted father of Nicole Truitt, Stepfather of Alexander Morris and Paige Palmer, Grandfather of Emma  Loving son of Denise Truitt (Hughes) and Frederick T. Sr. (Michelle); grandson of Dolores Hughes. Dear brother of Timothy Truitt, Aimee Davis, Michelle Truitt and Christoper Truitt, also survived by his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Eleanor P. Shay

Eleanor P. Shay (nee Perry) of Sandyford Park passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the age of 77. Eleanor was born to William Wallace Perry and Margaret Perry (nee Kenny). She married Gerard "Jerry" Shay on April 8, 1972.

Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Jerry; four devoted children, Christopher, John, Karen, and Laura; eight loving grandchildren, Emma, Thomas, Austin, Hunter, Vanessa, Maya, Layla and Everett; and three dear sisters, Patricia, Anne and Mary.

Eleanor was a selfless mother, devoted grandmother, and supportive wife. She was known as “The Commander” to her children, “Grandma Ele” to her grandchildren, “Mama Shay” to the Saint Hubert’s Drama Club, and “The Dragon Lady” to her clients in her long career in aviation insurance. She was an amazing woman who filled countless lives with her guidance, wisdom, joy, and laughter.

Marian H. Harrington, of Castor Gardens, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2019 at her residence after a long and courageous battle with ALS at the age of 65.
